Vodafone collects tens of thousands of phones each year in New Zealand. We need your help to collect even more. Recycling your phone is the right thing to do to keep New Zealand's environment clean and green, plus someone else could benefit from your old phone.
In a world first initiative, we've partnered with Enable Community to provide mobiles to entrepreneurs in developing countries, equipping them with the technology to grow their businesses and become self-sufficient. Your old mobile could give someone in the developing world a real hand-up.
If your phone is past its best it can still be reused, by recycling it and using the materials for other items. Your old phone could be used to make anything from a traffic cone to a gold ring. Its important to recycle your old mobile, as with all electronic devices and batteries, they can contain materials which should not be thrown into landfill.
Enable Community is a not for profit organization, working to provide access to communications to those that would otherwise find it unaffordable.. This is done through the collection and re-use of mobiles,
All of the mobiles and accessories we collect are tested, and if still functional, are sent to organisations in developing countries, where they are refurbished and distributed to help people set up their own businesses. Any mobiles and accessories that cannot be re-used are recycled by an accredited mobile recycling facility.
