Smart TV with Freeview
You’ll need to have a UHF aerial on your roof so you can plug your TV directly into your aerial to enjoy live TV with no set top box. You’ll also need to check that you live in a Freeview coverage area by visiting Coverage Maps - Freeview.
Most Smart TVs should also have built in Wifi making it easy for you to access online content such as streaming video from YouTube, Netflix and more right from your TV. Smart TVs also come with preloaded apps so make sure when choosing which TV to buy it has your favourite apps included. They also allow inter-connectivity between other connected devices such as phones, tablets, computers and more.

Recycle your VodafoneTV

When you’ve got a replacement sorted we do need you to return your VodafoneTV for recycling and we’ve made it super easy. Simply fill in the form on our recycling page and we’ll send you a pre-paid return courier bag. Just pop your device, remote & cables inside, send it off and we’ll do the rest – its that easy!

What is happening with VodafoneTV?
The VodafoneTV service will close on Friday 30 September 2022. You don’t need to do anything right now. Check your email over the coming months as we’ll be in touch to guide you through the closure.
Why is VodafoneTV closing?
Four years ago, we set out to create a powerful entertainment solution with your favourite apps and content all in one place at an affordable price. VodafoneTV has brought entertainment to so many homes over these years. However due to the changing content landscape, VodafoneTV will close on 30 September 2022.
Do I need to return my VodafoneTV box?
Once you’ve stopped using your VodafoneTV, we recommend you recycle your VodafoneTV box via our recycling programme and we’ll send you a pre-paid return courier bag.
Can I continue to watch free to air television on VodafoneTV?
Yes, you don’t need to do anything right now. We’ll be in touch over the next few months to guide you through the closure and share advice on alternative solutions you might instead like to use to access the apps and content you currently enjoy on VodafoneTV (e.g. Smart TVs, Chromecast, and Freeview).
I brought my VodafoneTV box from a retail store. Can I get a refund?
You may be entitled to a refund depending on when you purchased and activated your VodafoneTV. This process will start in March/April 2022 and we will contact all customers who are eligible for a refund at that time.
Please Note: Refunds will be provided by Vodafone corporate office directly. They will NOT be available from any retail outlet that the box was purchased from.
Can I stop using VodafoneTV at any time, I don’t have a Sky subscription?
Yes, as soon as you have found an alternative solution you can stop using VodafoneTV and ideally recycle the device or dispose of it responsibly using our recycling programme.
- Bundled customer with Intro/free to air: (VodafoneTV is listed on your Broadband bill) If you are a VodafoneTV Bundled customer (VodafoneTV is listed on your Broadband Bill), you should contact our Customer Care or Sales team to ensure the VodafoneTV service is removed from your account before the shutdown date of 30 September 2022.
- Standalone customer Intro/free to air: (VodafoneTV is NOT listed on your Broadband bill) Continue to use the self service VodafoneTV Customer Portal (www.vtv.nz ) to cancel services as you do today until the 30 September 2022.
There is no contract term associated with the VodafoneTV service, so you can choose to do this at any time.
I never received an email or letter about the VodafoneTV closure why is this?
Best efforts were made to contact all VodafoneTV customers, but we understand we may not have reached you if we didn’t have your most up to date contact details.
Sky FAQ’s
I have Sky on VodafoneTV – will that change?
Not anytime soon! We’re working closely with Sky to move your subscription directly to them. This transition will begin in February 2022. As part of our and Sky’s commitment to you, when your subscription moves, you’ll be able to get the same channels at the same price. You will need to transition off VodafoneTV prior to its closure. Sky will be in contact with you directly soon, to help you move to a Sky product that works best for you (options will include a brand-new internet-connected Sky Box launching later this year).
I was going to add Sky to my VodafoneTV. Can I still do this?
If your VodafoneTV is not listed on your Broadband bill , you can still use the self-service VodafoneTV Customer Portal (www.vtv.nz) to add Sky packages.
If your VodafoneTV is listed on your Broadband bill – If you are a VodafoneTV Bundled customer (VodafoneTV is listed on your Broadband Bill), Contact sky as they will need to set you up with a new box.
Will the price of my Sky channels change?
No. You will be set up on the same channels, at the same price when you transition to Sky. There won’t be any interruption to your Sky service. The only immediate difference is your Sky service will now be billed by Sky instead of Vodafone.
Will I still get the same Sky channels?
Yes you will be set up on the same channels, at the same price when you transition to Sky.
How do I manage my Sky packages before the transition?
If your VodafoneTV is not listed on your Broadband bill - You can still use the self-service VodafoneTV Customer Portal (www.vtv.nz) to add Sky packages.
If your VodafoneTV is listed on your Broadband bill – From 1st March – 31st March, Contact our Customer Care or Sales team and if your services are already with sky, you will be prompted to contact them.
Can I stop using VodafoneTV at any time? What if I don’t want my Sky subscription anymore?
Yes, as soon as you have found an alternative solution you can stop using VodafoneTV and ideally recycle the device or dispose of it responsibly using our recycling programme.
- Bundled customer with sky services: (VodafoneTV is listed on your Broadband bill) From 1st March – 31st March – contact our Customer Care or Sales team and if your services are already with sky, you will be prompted to contact them. From 1st of April – Contact sky to disconnect your services as all customer’s services will have moved to sky by that date.
- Standalone customer with both Sky and Intro: (VodafoneTV is NOT listed on your Broadband bill) Continue to use the self service VodafoneTV Customer Portal (www.vtv.nz) to cancel services as you do today until the 30 September 2022.
There is no contract term associated with the VodafoneTV service, so you can choose to do this at any time.
Do I need to do anything right now?
Not at all! We want to make this transition as easy as possible for you and, together with Sky, we’ll be guiding you through next steps.
I don’t have a Sky satellite dish, can I still transition seamlessly to Sky?
Sky’s working on launching a number of new products this year, and their goal is to ensure your transition is as effortless as possible. Initially, you'll still be able to watch Sky on your VodafoneTV. However, you'll need to transition off your VodafoneTV prior to its closure on 30 September.
How will I receive my Sky bill and who will I pay?
Once we’ve moved your Sky billing over to Sky, Sky will be in touch with more information on paying your Sky bill and setting up payment options.
What do I do with my current payment set up with Vodafone e.g. direct debit / AP, CC?
There’s nothing you need to do right away. If you have an automatic payment set up to pay your broadband and Sky service with Vodafone, you’ll need to adjust the amount to cover the monthly broadband charges only. You can find your current broadband charges on your latest Vodafone invoice or in the My Vodafone app. If you pay via Direct Debit or Credit Card, this will automatically change to the correct amount to cover your Vodafone Broadband Bill.
When will I receive my first Sky bill?
You’ll receive a bill from Sky in over the coming weeks, which will include all the information you need to know.

How do I know I’m a VodafoneTV Bundled customer?
If you are a VodafoneTV bundled customer VodafoneTV will be listed on your Broadband bill.
What if my Broadband plan is still in contract?
Your Broadband contract is independent of VodafoneTV and nothing changes. There is no contract term associated with the VodafoneTV service.
Will my plan change now that VodafoneTV isn’t included?
As part of the VodafoneTV service closure we’ll be reviewing the Broadband plan you’re currently on. If anything needs to change, we’ll be in contact with you directly.
Can I change my Broadband plan now?
Yes, if you wish to change your Broadband plan now please contact our Customer Care or Sales team or visit your local Vodafone Retail store.

How do I know if I’m a VodafoneTV Standalone customer?
If you’re a VodafoneTV Standalone customer then VodafoneTV will NOT be listed on your Broadband bill.
