If you are an On Account customer, PhoneInsure mobile insurance covers the cost of replacing or repairing your mobile if it’s lost, stolen and if it’s accidently or maliciously damaged. All with minimal fuss so you can get right back to your mobile life.

How to get PhoneInsure

We insure all the latest smartphones.

You can buy PhoneInsure within the first 30 days of buying or upgrading to a new mobile. We’ll simply add the premium to your Vodafone bill.

Call us on 777 from your mobile, 0800 800 021 from a landline, or visit a Vodafone store.

We've got you covered

PhoneInsure covers you for:

  • Damage, loss or theft of your mobile and its accessories
  • Up to $1,000 reimbursement to your monthly account for unauthorised use of your mobile after it goes missing. This includes calls, TXTs and data usage
  • Worldwide cover for loss, theft, accidental or malicious damage when roaming on the Vodafone NZ network
  • Cover up to a maximum of $500 for hiring a replacement mobile overseas for up to 14 days

An excess is payable for each valid claim. We recommend you read the PhoneInsure policy document for full terms, conditions and exclusions that apply.

About conditions and excesses

Lost or stolen mobiles will be repaired or replaced at our option with a refurbished mobile or with the same or a similarly featured Vodafone approved model. If your mobile sustains damage we will first attempt to repair it with new or refurbished parts, if it is economically viable for us to do so. Where your mobile can’t be repaired we will, at our option:

  • Replace your mobile with a refurbished mobile of the same or similar specification, or
  • Where a refurbished mobile is not available, replace it with a new Vodafone approved mobile of the same or similar specification.
Different excesses apply based on the replacement cost of your phone. These differences are detailed below. For phones with a replacement cost of up to $1,800 (inclusive):

  • $200 for the first claim within 12 months
  • $250 for a second claim within 12 months
For phones with a replacement cost of between $1,801 and $2,100 (inclusive):

  • $350 for the first claim within 12 months
  • $400 for a second claim within 12 months

How to make a PhoneInsure claim

We recommend that you lodge your claim within the first 48 hours, you must follow these steps so that we can get you connected as soon as possible.

Block it:

Call Vodafone Customer Services on 0800 800 021, within 48 hours, to block Your Mobile and bar Your SIM card.

Report it:

You must report it to the police within 48 hours. Obtain a police report reference number to use with Your claim.

Claim it:

Lodge Your claim online at Vodafone or call the PhoneInsure team on 0800 505 021, within 48 hours, to initiate Your claim.

Maliciously damaged

Report it:

You must report it to the police within 48 hours. Obtain a police report reference number to use with Your claim.

Claim it:

Lodge your claim online at Vodafone or call the PhoneInsure team on 0800 505 021, within 48 hours, to initiate Your claim.

Accidentially damaged

Claim it:

Lodge Your claim online at Vodafone or call the PhoneInsure team on 0800 505 021, within 48 hours, to initiate Your claim.

Temporary mobile rental overseas

Claim it:

Call PhoneInsure on 0800 505 021 (a receipt will be required).

PhoneInsure office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. (NZ time). Make a claim online at any time.

How to make a claim when you're overseas:

If your phone is lost or stolen while you're overseas, call us immediately on +64 9 366 9239 to bar your account and make your claim. Make a claim online at any time.
