7. Sharing Plans
Eligible Plans = for both Red Share and Tablet Share this includes $49 Advantage open term (promotional only) and, Red+ Lite open term plans, Red+ Essentials, Red+, Red+ Super, Black and Black Data Packages, and for Tablet Share the eligible plans are all On Account plans.
Sharing Plans = Red Share, Tablet Share
Customer Account = The legal entity that has completed the credit check process and has responsibility for any / all charges relating to the Billing Account (s) associated to the Customer Account
Billing Account = The Account to which Connections are added and charges applied to. Customers may have a single OR multiple Billing Accounts linked top their Customer Account
Connection = The Plan taken by the customer – this can be for the Customer (legal entity) or for other Customers the Customer Account owner is taking liability for. Connections can only be linked to one Billing account
Sharing Plans allow you to share an Eligible Plan’s data with Sharing Plans purchased under the same billing account.
If you are the Customer Account Holder connected to an Eligible Plan (or have Billing Account access), you may:
Add up to four additional Red Share plans to enable those plans to share the data of the Eligible Plan
Add up to five additional Tablet Share plans to enable those plans to share the data of the Eligible Plan
Sharing Plans can only be purchased under the same Billing Account as the Eligible Plan, and are not available to be purchased as standalone plans.
You must purchase a Sharing Plan in order to share the data of the Eligible Plan. Two Eligible Plans cannot share data.
If you have more than one Eligible Plan per Customer Account, you must select which plan you want Sharing Plans to connect to.
Each Tablet Share plan must be attached to either your Eligible Plan, or a Red Share Plan. This means that you cannot have more Tablet Share plans than the combined total of your Eligible plan and additional Red Share plans. For example, you cannot have four Tablet Share plans with one Eligible Plan and two Red Share plans.
You can only create one sharing group per billing account and all sharing connections must all be on the same billing account (i.e. not across customer accounts). The costs and details relating to each plan (including any monthly charges and additional costs) will appear on one bill.
The data that may be shared is all the data included in the Eligible Plan, plus any additional data add-ons purchased by the Eligible Plan holder ( or any member of the Sharing Group who has the billing access). Please note that where the Eligible Plan has a tablet plan (not a Tablet Share plan) included as part of the Eligible Plan benefits, or one is purchased this data will not be included in the shared data pool and will only be available for that tablet plan to use, in addition, this tablet plan will not be part of the sharing group.
All data, whether included in an Eligible Plans entitlements or purchased is shared across Sharing Plans and consumed on a first in first served basis. There are no individual user limits, and none are able to be set. No one user will be given priority over another.
Shared data is available to be used while in New Zealand. However, if any member of the sharing group (including the customer under the Eligible Plan) travels to a Daily Roaming country they will be able to access Daily Roaming where a daily fee is charged when they use their phone overseas, which allows them to use their plan as they would at home. Daily Roaming will automatically apply to all Sharing Plans regardless of whether those plans have billing access.
For the Black plan where Australia roaming data is included in the plan, a user on any attached Sharing Plan will also be able to use sharing capability to access data in Australia without incurring a Daily Roaming fee. If calling or TXTing is used, a fee will be incurred.
Refer to Daily Roaming Terms and Conditions.
Sharing Plans must have Billing Account access to purchase additional data either through Flexi Data or re-occurring data Add-ons).
Sharing Plans do not need to have to have Billing Account access to purchase additional data through Data Angel overseas, or to be eligible for Daily Roaming when the Sharer is in a Daily Roam Country.
Billing Account access can only be given by the Account Owner (i.e. the owner of the Eligible Plan).
Eligible Plans have no data purchasing restrictions.
Adding and removing connections
If you wish to remove your Eligible Plan from the Sharing group, another Eligible Plan must be added to or amended within the same Billing Account. This means an existing connection (Red Share or Tablet Share) must upgrade to an Eligible Plan (plan transfer or re-sign – if eligible for re-sign) or another Eligible Plan added to the Billing Account. Change Fees may apply. If for any reason (primarily relating to the timing of establishing another Eligible Plan) your billing account is without an Eligible Plan then any Red Share or Tablet Share plans will have NO DATA until an Eligible Plan is assigned to the Billing Account. If an Eligible Plan removes Sharing ability mid Billing Cycle the following rules apply for the data for the remainder of that Billing Month:
Eligible Plans will move to an individual data allowance and will retain the balance of the group data as at the time of cancelling sharing
Remaining Sharing Plans will have no access to the balance of the shared data bundle and will need to be transferred an in market plan to consume data. Change Fees may apply
To maintain a sharing group there must be an active Eligible Plan for the sharing plans to be linked to. If you are considering or planning to change/remove the Eligible Plan please contact Vodafone before initiating the change. This will enable us to provide you with advice and guidance as to what your options are to continue to have a sharing group with Vodafone. Removal of an Eligible Plan without notification to Vodafone will result in the sharing connections losing access to data.
If you are on the Eligible Plan, you will be able to view the data usage percentage of each individual user. You will also have access to details around the date, time and amount of usage, although no details on what the data was used to access.
If you are on the Eligible Plan, you will also have access to all of the call and TXT details of the Sharing Plans. This will include details on the date, time, length of call and number called/TXTed.
If you are on a Sharing Plan with Billing access you will have all of the same access to the information of the Eligible Plan and all of the Sharing Plans.
If you are on a Sharing Plan without billing access, you will be able to review your own usage, including percentage of total data, and details around time and amount of data usage, and your own calling and TXT details. You will not be able to review any information which relates specifically to any other member of the sharing group.
Red Share and Tablet Share plans are not eligible for Red+ Family discounting.
If you are the Customer Account holder of the Eligible Plans and the Sharing Plans, in accordance with our standard Consumer Terms, you will be liable for all Charges payable under that Account, including any that relate to the Sharing Plans. This includes but is not limited to the monthly access fee, any applicable Change Fees that any connections under your account may be liable for, additional calling costs, and Roaming costs.
If you are not the Customer Account holder of the Eligible Plan and Sharing Plans, you acknowledge that the Account Holder or any persons with Billing Account access will be able to request information or act on your behalf.
The Customer Account holder is the owner of the account, and accordingly the phone number. To the extent that the user of the number wishes to move to a different plan, or provider approval must be given by the Customer Account holder.
4G gives you access to faster data speeds enabling you to do your thing faster when you have a 4G phone or device and you're in a 4G coverage area.
If a Customer transfers or re-signs to a Plan where 4G capability is not included as part of that Plan, the Customer will lose 4G capability and must purchase a 4G Add-On to continue using 4G.
9. Phone Insurance
To qualify for Phone Insurance the customer must have purchased their phone from Vodafone New Zealand.
If a Customer transfers or re-signs to a Plan where phone insurance is not included as part of that Plan, the customer will relinquish phone insurance, as it will not automatically carry over to the new Plan as a chargeable Add-On. If the Customer wishes to continue to receive phone insurance, they must contact Vodafone to purchase the phone insurance Add-On. Phone Insure Terms and Conditions

15. Text messages
For text messages, a single text message has a limit of 160 standard characters. If you go over this, most devices will break the message into segments with a maximum length of 153 standard characters. You’re then charged your text message rate for each segment sent. Some character sets, such as non-English language keyboards as well as emojis and emoticons, have a 70 character limit per text message and 67 characters per segment. If your message contains special characters, such as emojis, your device may send it as a picture message, or as multiple text messages. If this happens, you’ll be charged for each of those text messages or picture messages.
For voicemail, we may limit the number and duration of messages that can be left on your voicemail service.
