Set up your Ultra Hub

Ultra hub

With your Vodafone Smart Connect service, you can use the Vodafone Ultra Hub modem on ADSL, VDSL, FibreX and Fibre connections.

For ADSL and VDSL, and Fibre X or Fibre houses with an existing Fibre Optical Network Terminal (ONT), it’s easy to install the Ultra Hub yourself in just a few minutes. 

If you have FibreX or Fibre, and your house doesn’t have an ONT , a technician will be booked to install your broadband connection. They will also set up your Ultra Hub in this visit.

Your Ultra Hub package will be delivered to you and includes:

  • Vodafone Ultra Hub modem
  • Power supply
  • x2 LAN cables
  • x2 DSL cables
  • x1 DSL Line Filter

Plug in your modem

Ultra hub socket a
  1. Plug one end of the grey cable marked DSL/Phone into the grey DSL port on your Ultra Hub and the other end into the telephone wall jack.
    Use the DSL Line Filter if required
  2. Plug the power supply into a power socket and connect the other end to your Ultra Hub
  3. On the back of your modem, press the power button (ON/OFF) to turn it on
  4. Connect your devices using either Wi-Fi or by plugging the LAN cable into any of the LAN ports on the modem

Fibre install

Before beginning, ensure the ONT is powered on.

  1. Plug the power supply into your modem and wall power outlet and Press the On/Off button on the back of the modem
  2. Connect one end of a LAN cable to the modem’s WAN port and the other end into Port 1 of the ONT
    After your modem establishes a connection to the internet, the Internet light turns green
    If the light doesn’t turn green after 1 minute, try the next port. Try each port for 1 minute until you are connected

    To connect a phone to your modem, continue to step 3
    Otherwise go to step 4
  3. Plug your phone into the Phone 1 port of the modem
  4. Connect your devices using either Wi-Fi or by plugging the LAN cable into any of the LAN ports on the modem

Voice Calling over Broadband
  1. Connect a grey cable, marked DSL/Phone, between the grey DSL port of your Ultra Hub and the telephone wall jack.
  2. Plug in the power supply into a mains socket
  3. Connect the other end of the power supply into the modem power supply socket on your Ultra Hub. Press the On/Off button on the back of the modem and wait for the Internet light to turn to solid green (requires service to have been activated by Vodafone)
  4. As you've bought Voice Calling over Broadband, plug your phone into Phone 1 socket on the Ultra Hub.
  5. Connect your devices using either Wi-Fi or by plugging the LAN cable into any of the LAN ports on the modem.

Your new Ultra Hub boasts the latest in Wi-Fi technology with

  • 4x4 AC Wi-Fi giving you more connections with less congestion, so faster browsing and smoother streaming for everyone!
  • Beam Forming Wi-Fi, which means your Ultra Hub detects devices connecting to it and maximises the connection for each device by focusing signal to it.
