This page explains how you can control what anyone connecting to the Internet through your modem can access and when.

To access control features Open your web browser and go to 192.168.1.1 Enter your username and password (printed on the back of your modem) Click on Advanced

Access times (parental controls)

Parental Controls allow you to restrict a specific computer or device's internet access at certain times of the day. For example you may want to block a games console, such as a PlayStation or Xbox from accessing the Internet during exams.

Website filtering

This filter is based on keywords you enter. If a web address (URL) features a keyword then it will be blocked i.e. you enter 'greenpants' as a keyword then GreenPants.com will be blocked. In reverse, if you set it to Allow, only websites with the specific keywords you set will be accessible.

Please note: This will only restrict keywords in the URL of the webpage, not the content of the webpage itself

Port forwarding

Some internet applications may require a special configuration on the ports for network access. Port forwarding allows you to define the ports to be enabled to allow/block those applications.

Access control

Access control is the opposite of port forwarding as it allows you to block access to a particular port or service such as games or internet.

Block a specific device (MAC address filtering)

Every computer, phone or tablet in the world has a MAC address or unique ID. This function allows you to block or allow a particular device to connect to the internet based on the device's MAC address.
