Email forwarding is ending

What you need to know

From 21 August 2019, we’re closing our email service. This means your email address will stop working and you won’t be able to send or receive emails with it.

Since we launched our email service almost 20 years ago, email functionality has come a long way. We know our email service is no longer delivering the sort of experience that Kiwis need, which is why we are closing this service.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience, but we genuinely believe this is the right decision to ensure you stay connected now and in the future.

These email services are ending on 21 August 2019

Follow these simple steps to be ready

1. Search for your forwarded emails in your inbox

Type your old email address into the search bar of your email inbox where your emails are being forwarded to. This will bring up all the emails that are being delivered to your old email address. Have a look through them and select which ones are important to you and let them know your new email address. The ones you don’t update, will not be delivered to you after 21 August 2019.

2. Think about which businesses you need to update with your new email address

These could be your favourite brands and also your utility providers, e.g. banks, electricity, water and gas. You’ll also need to consider any organisations (e.g. social media apps) where your old email address is used as a login to your account.

We’ve put together a checklist of the most common service providers for you.

3. Set up an auto reply to be sent to anyone who emails you

Your auto reply can let your contacts know what your new email address is. You’ll set it up from your new email inbox so anyone who emails your old email address or new email address will get this response. Anyone who emails your old email address after email forwarding closes on 21 August 2019 won’t receive an auto reply. Don't forget to turn your auto-reply off after 21 August. Here are a couple handy guides of how to set up auto replies:

  • Outlook
  • Gmail

4. If you have any stored emails that you want to keep, get them from webmail and forward to your new email address

Access via Webmail to any emails originally sent to your old email address will be denied once email forwarding shuts down on 21 August 2019.

  • Webmail for paradise.net
  • Webmail for clear.net
  • Webmail for all other Vodafone hosted domains listed at the top of the page (e.g. vodafone.co.nz)
