From 11 July 2019, Daily Roaming will increase to $7 a day, at the same time we're also adding more destinations for you to roam in

For over five years Kiwis have enjoyed the convenience of Daily Roaming, and the ability to seamlessly use their mobile plan while overseas. In that time, the number of destinations has expanded to 88.

Next month, we’ll also be bumping up this service to include over 100 destinations, with popular spots like Vietnam and Cambodia coming onboard.

I don't want to pay $7. Can I cancel my contract?

If you are on a mobile plan governed by the Consumer Terms, and believe that Daily Roaming for $7 a day has a detrimental impact on you, you are entitled to cancel your contract without incurring an early termination charge. If you are paying off a device on an Interest Free Payment, that device will still need to be repaid as per your Interest Free terms.

If you are on any other plan and believe Daily Roaming for $7 a day has a material detrimental impact on you, you are entitled to cancel your contract but you must pay an early termination charge. You are also required to pay the outstanding amount on any device you are paying off on Interest Free as per your Interest Free terms.

Why are you increasing the price?

Vodafone launched Daily Roaming over five years ago and we’ve made numerous improvements to the service since then. Plus, we’ve expanded our Daily Roaming to over 100 destinations where Kiwis love to travel.

Vodafone's Daily Roaming gives on-the-go Kiwis the flexibility to use their plan in many overseas destinations just as you do at home, with no set-up hassles. All for a daily fixed price that gives complete peace of mind.

How can I tell if my plan has Daily Roaming included?

You can check the eligible plans for Daily Roaming here.

Daily Roaming is charged at $7 per device.

How can I turn off roaming? I don't want to pay $7.

Turn off your mobile data and don't use your phone to make or receive calls or send TXTs.

Can I opt out of the price if I don’t roam to the new destinations? E.g. I only roam to Australia.

No, Daily Roaming is a set price to any of our 100+ destinations.

I flew to Australia and they still have $5 roaming - does this mean I can use their roaming rates?

Vodafone NZ is changing its Daily Roaming rate from $5 to $7. This does not affect the charges in other markets - your Daily Roaming will be $7 in any applicable destination. You would need to have the local market SIM to make use of their roaming rates.

Is $7 including GST?

No, prices are in NZ dollars and GST is charged at 0%.

Are you increasing the price because of the GST being added to roaming?

No. The NZ Government has proposed adding GST to roaming charges. We don't currently charge GST on your roaming, and this potential change is not expected to come into effect before 1 April 2022.

Will I get a reminder when the new pricing takes effect?

Yes, we will send you a TXT on 11 July 2019, the date the price changes, if you are roaming in a Daily Roaming destination.

What time will the change take effect?

On the morning of the 11th July 2019.

What if I've already bought a Data Angel Overseas pack for one of the new Daily Roaming destinations?

Your Data Angel Overseas pack will still work up until July 11th. It will also work in all other Data Angel Overseas destinations other than the current and new Daily Roaming destinations. After this time, you will not be able to use Data Angel Overseas in those destinations and will be switched to the $7 per day Daily Roaming charge.

Can I keep using Data Angel Overseas after July 11th?

If you have already bought a Data Angel Overseas pack, you can use this in any Data Angel Overseas destinations. Note that any of the destinations that have changed to Daily Roaming will then cost $7 per day - your Data Angel Overseas pack will not be able to be used here anymore.

What will my bill look like?

Your Daily Roaming charge will be split out into the $5 and $7 charges if you roam both before and after July 11th within your bill cycle. If you only roam either before July 11th or after July 11th (and not both) you will only see one line item for Daily Roaming.

Can I know which destinations I have been charged for on my bill?

No, our bills will only show you the total charge over the days you have roamed in.

Have you increased the price because of your sale to Infratil and Brookfield?

No, the price increase is unrelated to the sale.

Why is the price of Daily Roaming increasing but not the price of Prepay Roaming?
