Vodafone's Rainbow Whānau

Rainbow Whānau network
Vodafone NZ has many networks committed to inclusivity for our diverse employees and community.
For LGBTIQ+, we have the Rainbow Whānau. Our mission is to connect with pride and help Vodafone New Zealand be the most LGBTIQ+ inclusive organisation for our colleagues, our customers, and the community in New Zealand. We do this by running our network as an agile squad and delivering pieces of work that benefit our employees, customers, and community.
We welcome all LGBTIQ+ and ally staff to join the network, either to help out or to keep up to date on the latest updates from us.

Gender neutral facilities
Vodafone NZ believes that workplaces should be places where employees can feel comfortable and safe.
Where possible, and at our main offices in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, our facilities provide gender-neutral bathrooms for any of our gender diverse staff, many of whom are happier and more comfortable when offered gender neutral options in their day-to-day life.

Rainbow initiatives
With the aid of the Rainbow Whānau Network, we run a number of rainbow initiatives throughout the year to encourage understanding and celebration of our LGBTIQ+ employees.
Every year we have a Global Pride Webinar to discuss current issues facing the community and discuss how Vodafone is able to provide support. We observe World AIDS Day and Spirit Day within the office to help raise awareness of LGBTIQ+ issues. We also celebrate pride by putting rainbow crossing and decals across our head offices during pride month, to visibly show our stance on supporting the LGBTIQ+ community.
Diversity seminars are also held to aid people leaders and staff better understand their co-workers. We believe that it is important to show up and be proactively involved in LGBTIQ+ initiatives.

Community partnerships
While we do what we can at Vodafone, we know that community organisations do the bulk of the mahi to support our LGBTIQ+ community.
Therefore we ensure to support organisations and events throughout the year to really walk the talk in helping our LGBTIQ+ community.
We have worked with organisations like NZ Aids Foundation, South Pacific Pride, and InsideOUT to deliver key events like Big Gay Out, Winter Pride, and the Wellington Pride Youth Ball.
