Embracing difference
Our people are as diverse as our customers. It’s a strength we take care to preserve

Inclusive and open minded culture
At Vodafone we embrace and celebrate the fact that everyone’s different. Gender, age, life stage, ethnicity, thinking, religion, lifestyle, working style – every personal variation is respected within our inclusive culture.
We recognise that the diversity of our customers must be reflected in the diversity of our people, and we believe that our inherent open-mindedness fuels our ability to create and innovate.

Women in technology
We were one of the first New Zealand companies to sign up to the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles. We’ve also set up the Inspiring Women into Technology programme, which aims to attract more women into technology careers.

Female leadership
We want to see more women in senior leadership positions, and we're actively working to help develop the next generation of New Zealand women leaders.

Tangata Whenua
Our Maori initiatives include:
- Establishing a Maori network within Vodafone
- Celebrating Maori Language Week
- Employing Maori graduates every year
- Working with Hika Group to launch the Hika Lite App, a learning tool that translates English to te reo Maori
- Supporting Maori-specific youth projects

Safer parenting
We’re a key corporate sponsor of The Parenting Place – a website that helps parents and young people to get the most from their technology. Our association with The Parenting Place has helped us to develop Blacklist, which helps kids avoid TXT bullying; Guardian, a free app that lets parents restrict their kids’ mobile calls, TXTs, internet access and camera use; and the Connected Programme, which teaches teens and parents how to use technology in a positive way.
