How it works

1. Connect your Microsoft 365 application

We connect your Microsoft 365 application directly to the public phone network. (Or we can connect your existing on-site infrastructure to the cloud as a hybrid option if you like.) It doesn't take a complex infrastructure rollout - all you need is good internet access.

2. Connect to Microsoft Teams

Each of your staff gets a phone number they can use on any of their devices connected to Microsoft Teams. This can be their existing landline number, or a new number.

Minimum requirements

  • Your corporate network has to be configured so that users can connect to Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft 365 Business plans (Less than 300 users), now have the capability to add Phone System Licensing and therefore can use Vodafone Teams Connect
  • You need the right Microsoft 365 license. Typically, this is an A3/E3 license plus the Phone System, or A5/E5 license
  • You need Microsoft certified headsets or handsets
  • Users have to be in Azure Active Directory, and have Exchange Online
  • You need to provide Vodafone with access to your Microsoft 365 tenancy to enable automated set up of your service

Teams Connect FAQs

Does Vodafone Teams Connect include Microsoft licensing?

No, licensing is currently separate. You need the right Microsoft 365 license. Typically, this is an A3/E3 license plus the Phone System, or an A5/E5 license. We are working to make licensing available directly on our portal and will let you know when this happens.

Microsoft 365 Business plans (Less than 300 users), now have the capability to add Phone System Licensing and therefore can use Vodafone Teams Connect.

Is calling bundled with the per user price?

No. To keep costs down, you only pay for the calls your staff actually make.

What happens if there is an internet outage or Microsoft 365 isn’t available?

We recommend that you set up an emergency plan for calls to be diverted as close to the originating call as possible. This would mitigate most potential outage scenarios.

Can a user have a physical phone?

Yes, so long as it is Microsoft Teams Certified.

How about cordless phones?

What happens if I add users and move into a different price bracket?

If you add or remove users in a month, your monthly price will automatically adjust to the relevant price point. To get a lower price point, you may find it useful to add some dummy users.

Where are calls routed to?

How calls will be routed depends on where your Microsoft 365 Teams is hosted.

Do conference calls remain in New Zealand?

No, conference calls will be hosted along with your Microsoft 365. For most New Zealand customers, this will be in Australia. As calls route across Microsoft networks, there is no noticeable delay. Even calls hosted in Europe work well.
