Our personal homepage services were set up almost 20 years ago, on platforms that can no longer compete with what’s available from specialist web hosting companies today.
That’s why we’ve closed this service, and encouraged customers who wanted to keep their homepages, to move to a specialist web hosting company with more modern hosting functionality.
Homepages that contained one of the following URLs, were affected by this closure:

Questions and answers
In the early days of the internet a ‘personal homepage’ served as a way to share information on the World Wide Web, using a single webpage.
In the mid-2000s personal homepages dropped in popularity, as alternative technologies with greater functionality became more prevalent. The rise of blogging and the development of user-friendly web-design programmes made it easy for anyone to create a personal website with multiple webpages, widgets and advanced features. And social media platforms, like Facebook and LinkedIn, proved to be more effective and efficient ways update networks with personal or professional information.
Will my personalised hosted domains, email, or website also be closing on 30th November 2018?
They won’t close on 30th November 2018, but we will be closing our hosted domains, email and website services on 28th February 2019. If you have these services, you should have received an email explaining this and instructions on how to move to a new web hosting company. For more information, check out www.vodafone.co.nz/hosting.
What are the benefits of moving to a new web hosting company?
Moving your homepage to another hosting provider will enable you to take advantage of more modern web hosting functionality. This includes the ability to handle larger site traffic volumes, store richer media (i.e. high-res video/ photos) and use domain names that can better take advantage of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
Another option that may be even better suited to many customers is to share their content through other platforms such as Facebook or Instagram, rather than on a personal homepage.
