Number transfers and moving

Your number – now you can do it all.
You can port to Vodafone, move between On Account and Prepay, change who pays and keep your same number

Time for a change?

If you want to join Vodafone and keep your existing number, need to change your Vodafone account name, transfer your mobile number to someone else's name, change your payment method or even restructure your entire company's mobile connections, you can.

Number portability

Want to join Vodafone but want to bring your existing number. With number portability you can. No new prefixes, no changes, just the same old number that everyone knows.
It doesn't matter if you want to port to a Vodafone On Account plan, or to Vodafone Prepay, just bring the following into any Vodafone store:

  • If you're On Account – a bill from your current mobile provider
  • If you're on Prepay - your current mobile handset

For more info see vodafone.co.nz/help/number-portability

We'll ask you to sign a form to confirm that you are authorised to port your number from your current service provider. If you're not the person authorised to make changes to the account (e.g. if your mobile is a company provided mobile), then you'll need to get the person who is authorised to complete the form instead.
Or, you can visit vodafone.co.nz/porting to see how to do it online.

Keep your landline number too

With home phone number portability, you can keep your existing landline number when you switch to Home phone wireless. For more information on this service please ask your sales representative or see vodafone.co.nz/home-phone.

Payment flexibility

Already with Vodafone and want to change your payment method? Well you can, regardless of whether it is from On Account to Prepay, or Prepay to On Account. If you're already with Vodafone and want to change your payment method:

  • From Prepay to On Account - head into any Vodafone Store or visit vodafone.co.nz/mobile
  • From On Account to Prepay – call 777 from your mobile or head into any Vodafone Store.

Number flexibility

This service allows you to move numbers from one person to another. Plus, you can change your payment method at the same time If you want to give your mobile number to someone else then you'll need to contact us on 777 to authorise the number to be released to another person or company. If you're not the person authorised to make changes to the account, you'll need that person or authorised employee to contact us.

After the authorisation is complete the person receiving your number can visit any Vodafone store and let the sales representative know they have a number that's been authorised to be transferred to them. They can then pick an On Account or Prepay plan they would like and the number will be assigned to this.

Name change

If you're changing your name, it's easy to update your Vodafone account details, too. We're happy to update your account details if:

  • You've had a wedding or civil union and are taking on your partner's family name
  • You've separated or divorced, and no longer want your ex-partner's family name
  • You've changed your name by deed poll

It's simple and straightforward, and should only take a couple of minutes to complete. We'll also need some proof of your new identity - the form has all the details. You can download a copy of the form from vodafone.co.nz/help/name-changes If you're changing your business name rather than your own name, you'll need the company name change form. You can download a copy of the form from vodafone.co.nz/help/name-changes

We'll make the change within two working days of receiving your completed and signed form and supporting documents.

Company restructures

If you need to restructure some or all of your company's mobile connections, we can help you complete a change of ownership. . We need your written authority to make changes to your account, so download the change of ownership form at vodafone.co.nz/help/name-changes, complete it, sign it and send it to us
