Vodafone completes TelstraClear acquisition

Enjoy the best of both worlds

Vodafone completed its acquisition of TelstraClear on 31st October 2012.

Vodafone’s vision is to combine our mobile leadership with TelstraClear’s strength in broadband, TV and enterprise solutions to create a new force in the New Zealand communications market. This will help us to innovate and grow to meet the changing needs of New Zealand’s businesses and consumers, whether that’s mobile services, broadband, Pay TV, cloud based services or ICT services for large enterprise customers.

Vodafone is proud of its track record of investing in New Zealand: since 1998, we’ve employed thousands of Kiwis and invested more than $4 billion to bring our customers the products and services that have transformed their work and home lives. Now, we’ll be investing even more to bring our customers exciting new services that build on our strengths in mobile, fixed line and fibre technologies all across New Zealand from the Far North to Southland.

If you are a customer we expect you’ll have questions about what happens next. The short answer is that for now, nothing changes for Vodafone or TelstraClear customers. To keep things as simple as possible, we will still be operating as separate business units initially so you can continue to contact us and enjoy all our products and services just as you have always done. If you have further questions, please see our frequently asked questions below.

Our focus is to continue to deliver a great experience to all our customers and we’ll keep you updated on the exciting new opportunities as we move forward. In the meantime, you don’t have to do a thing except get ready to enjoy a whole lot more ways we’ll be helping you do your thing better.

Why did Vodafone buy TelstraClear?

Vodafone’s vision is to combine our mobile leadership with TelstraClear’s strength in broadband, TV and enterprise solutions to create a new force in the New Zealand communications market. This will help us to innovate and grow to meet the changing needs of New Zealand’s businesses and consumers, whether that’s mobile services, broadband, Pay TV, cloud based services or sophisticated ICT services.

Bringing the best of both businesses together creates lots of exciting opportunities. As well as new products and services, we’ll be supporting an even broader range of kiwi passions (everything from the Vodafone Warriors to the Royal New Zealand ballet) and we’ll be better represented right across New Zealand. Wherever our customers are, we’ll be there to help them do their thing better.

Why are you still separate business units?

This way, we make sure we deliver the best experience for our customers while we work on bringing the businesses together. Customers will be able to get in touch with us just as they’ve always done and keep enjoying all the products and services they have today while we start delivering on the new opportunities for them.

How will this impact me?

To keep things as simple as possible, there is no change to existing products and services, pricing, promotions service or billing. You can still benefit from all the great existing offers from Vodafone and TelstraClear and everything you’ve got today (e.g. your email address) stays the same. You will still pay your bills as you’ve always paid them and all direct debits etc. will remain in place

Similarly, all your service options remain the same so just contact us as you have always done

What happens in the future?

As we bring the businesses together, our focus will be on continuing to deliver a great experience for all our customers and developing innovative new products and services across mobile, broadband, TV and enterprise solutions. We’ll make sure our customers are the first to know about these as we deliver them.
