QR codes are like barcodes. Using your mobile's camera you simply scan the QR code which will connect you directly to mobile content. They give you easy access to a range of things like mobile website pages, promo details, special offers, maps and much more. No more typing out long URLs. There's nothing tricky, just scan and go.

With a QR code you can connect directly through to a company mobile website and get more product information. You can also connect to mobile media like movie trailers or song samples. Another way QR codes are used is for one-click TXT entry into promotions and competitions.

A QR reader is an application you can download from a third party which enables your mobile to recognise QR codes and read them. Your mobile can then do what the QR code tells it to do. Please note that this is a third party application, not a Vodafone supported application.

How do I download a reader?

To download a QR code reader for your mobile free TXT QR to 710. You will automatically be directed to download an appropriate reader from your mobile. Start the download and save to your applications or your games folder on your mobile.

How much does it cost to download the reader?

Each mobile is slightly different, but has a similar process:

  1. Open your reader,
  2. Hold your mobile over the QR code and take a photo,
  3. Click to confirm what the QR tells your mobile to do.

How much does it cost to scan a QR code?

It's free to scan a code, however some QR codes will have mobile web content which will incur data fees. These will be charged as part of your current data plan (if you don't have a plan, you will be covered in the $1 a day casual data plan).

Who developed the QR code?

The QR code was developed by DENSO WAVE and was designed to instantly read approximately 100 times as much information as a bar code. QR code is presently a world standard and is also stipulated by JIS and ISO.
