The Vodafone Security - PC Protection pack is powered by F-Secure.

Anti Virus: Detects and stops software that can attack computers via emails, removable media such as USB memory sticks, or software downloaded from the internet.

It's simple to use and

  • quarantines and removes the infected files keeping them from spreading
  • identifies viruses and worms
  • provides activity reporting and let's you know about any viruses found straight away
  • gives you a straightforward report on what was found and what was done with infected files, and
  • includes advanced, heuristic scanning and script blocking features

Anti Spyware: Detects and removes secretly installed software from your computer, ensuring that your system is running smoothly and clean of spyware.

It's effective and

  • provides simple tools to remove spyware
  • automatically updates and detects to keep your machine up to date and protected
  • it's easy to use and is customizable so that you can select how your computer is protected

Firewall: This protects your computer against unauthorised connection attempts, insider attacks, information theft, malicious applications, and other unwanted applications such as peer-to-peer software. When an Internet connection is activated, the firewall software should be automatically updated.

Spam Control: Some email spam can transmit viruses, adware or spyware to your computer. Spam Control monitors incoming email and removes unsolicited emails (spam) from your inbox. Once an email sender is identified as spam, it is tagged and filtered to a separate spam folder, where you can decide what you want to do with it.

Key features include:

  • white lists and black lists. A white list is a list that the user can set to identify senders from whom the user will accept email. Black lists are lists of known spammers. Email from senders on the black list will be automatically blocked, deleted or filed
  • automatically block 'sporn' (emailed pornography)
  • organise emails to block content you don't want into folders, such as financial, adult orientated subject matter, games etc., and assign emails to specific folders. Helps to ensure your email inbox is filled with the important emails you want to see quickly

Parental Control

Key features include:

  • configurable profiles. For example, Child access only for specified 'white list' web sites; Teenager, restrict access to the internet content based on categories; Parent, have unlimited access to the internet; Enhanced blocking for violence, travel, dating and sports; Internet Sandbox - A parent or teacher can define certain web sites and add those to a white list creating a safe area of the internet to be used by a child.

Automatic Updates: Hosted by F-Secure, when you connect to the Internet, it checks for and downloads:

  • setup updates and new software
  • latest security and profile updates
  • latest security profiles and upgrades

Usually there are two updates per day and these are 25KB, meaning a daily traffic of 50KB, which is less than most emails!

Downloading and using the PC Protection pack client will count towards your monthly broadband data allowance or, if you are on a dial up plan with limited hours of usage, check your dial up hours.

Vodafone Security - PC Protection Terms and Conditions

Terms and conditions for fixed line internet customers

Vodafone Security - PC Protection comprises services provided to you by, respectively, Vodafone New Zealand Limited ("Vodafone") and F-Secure.

  1. Access to Vodafone Security Pay Monthly - PC Protection via Vodafone requires a Vodafone fixed line internet plan and cannot be purchased by itself.
  2. You can buy a Vodafone Security - PC Protection single licence for a monthly fee of $5 or buy a block of 3 licences for $10 per month. You can upgrade from 1 licence to 3 licences however, you cannot downgrade from 3 licences to 1. If you buy a 3 licence block you will be given 1 licence key that can be used on 3 separate computers. Please note: the pay monthly option is only available to Vodafone fixed line customers.
  3. The Vodafone Security - PC Protection client is 81MB. Downloading and using this will count towards your monthly broadband data allowance or, if you are on a dial up plan with limited hours of usage, your dialup hours.
  4. You don't need to activate all three installations immediately but will be charged for the 3 licence block whether all 3 installations are active or not.
  5. As part of the sign up offer, you will get the first 3 months of your Vodafone Security - PC Protection monthly fee free from the 1st of the month following activation of your licence key.
  6. At the end of the first 3 months, you will be automatically charged for this service at the rate corresponding to the number of licences you have purchased.
  7. You are only eligible for the 3 months' free deal if you have not previously purchased a Vodafone Security - PC Protection licence.
  8. Vodafone Security - PC Protection is billed on a monthly basis in advance on the 1st of the month following activation of your licence key. If you cancel any of these services part way through the month you will still be billed to the end of the month.
  9. To cancel this service, use the 'Cancel your PC Protection pack' button under the 'Add PC Protection' option in My Account or contact the Vodafone fixed line and broadband team on 0800 438 448.
  10. Once you cancel your licence, you will no longer have any access to Vodafone Security - PC Protection updates unless you re-subscribe.
  11. It is your responsibility to keep your Vodafone Security - PC Protection up to date to ensure that your computer is protected from the latest viruses and spam.
  12. Your Vodafone Security - PC Protection licence is with F-Secure which is providing Vodafone Security - PC Protection to you via Vodafone. Vodafone will provide customer services in relation to Vodafone Security - PC Protection as an agent of FSecure. You can contact Vodafone customer service by calling 0800 438 448, 6am – 11pm, 7 days a week if you are a Vodafone fixed line broadband subscriber. (If you are not a Vodafone Fixed Line customer and have purchased the 12 month licence you can contact us on 0800 921 021).
  13. F-Secure are not responsible for your Vodafone fixed line internet plan, which is provided by Vodafone under a separate contract.

  4. It is your responsibility to keep your Vodafone Security - PC Protection up to date to ensure that your computer is protected from the latest viruses and spam.
  5. Your Vodafone Security - PC Protection licence is with F-Secure which is providing Vodafone Security - PC Protection to you via Vodafone. Vodafone will provide customer services in relation to Vodafone Security - PC Protection as an agent of F-Secure. You can contact Vodafone customer service by calling 0800 921 021, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if you are a Vodafone mobile broadband subscriber.
