Parallel imports - mobile phones from overseas sources

If you have a parallel-imported mobile phone or one you bought overseas, it may not be set up correctly for our network.

It makes perfect sense to bring your overseas mobile with you to New Zealand. Unfortunately not all phone settings or firmware are designed for New Zealand mobile networks.

Some overseas mobile phones simply don't speak Vodafone.

Typical problems that overseas sourced mobile phones can have include:

  • Dropped calls
  • Missed calls
  • Calls that fail to connect
  • Delayed TXT messages
  • Weird voice call quality
  • Problems with SIM2 services
  • Problems with PXT
  • Problems with Vodafone live!

3G data devices

If you have a parallel imported or overseas-sourced 3G mobile data device, such as a Mobile Connect card for a laptop, a router or a USB dongle, we are unable to provide support.

Mobile phones

Try your nearest Vodafone store. They'll do their best to switch your devices software and settings. There may be a charge to do this, and we can't guarantee it will work.

Alternatively you can have the settings sent directly to your mobile.

Great deals on Vodafone-approved mobiles

If you've tried changing your devices settings and it still doesn't work, you can purchase a certified Vodafone New Zealand mobile.

We have a huge range of great phones to choose from, which you can see in our Online Shop or at your nearest Vodafone store. You may even be able to catch one of our current special offers.
