Favourite moment(s) at Vodafone

Having only joined Vodafone recently, there is not yet a single moment or experience that stands out. However, as someone who has worked in various medium and large corporations, and seen people work in more than a few countries around the world, I love the way the company treats its employees at Vodafone. More importantly, and as a direct result of this, the people themselves who work here are passionate, friendly and really capable. Taken all together, this makes for a wonderful work environment, where you feel that you are valued and important, and it really allows you to make a difference. So many places of work can be a real grind, but I turn up to work every day feeling positive and ready to take on the next challenge. It really helps that we can share a laugh or two, even when things aren't going to plan!

How do you help our customers make the most of opportunities?

The area I am responsible for provides all of the supporting functions within the Service department that makes everyone elses jobs that much easier to do. We provide all of the resource management, change management, knowledge creation and presentation, and reporting that is required to maintain a world class Service organisation. In short, we work our hardest so that the people our customers interact with directly are ready and able to help with any inquiry.

What are you a part of at Vodafone?

I am a part of the Vodafone Senior Leadership Team, and therefore jointly tasked with guiding Vodafone through the challenges inherent with being a large New Zealand company. We need to consider how we can meet and exceed our customers' expectations, whilst ensuring our staff remain engaged and well supported. It is a challenging task, but exciting and fulfilling at the same time.

How can you be your possibility at Vodafone?

The beauty of working for a large global brand like Vodafone is that at the same time as working through the challenges you face in your daily job, you are provided with opportunities to meet and share ideas with others in similar roles from around the world, For me personally, this allows me to expand my knowledge and understanding beyond what I could be expected to achieve through personal experience alone, and therefore become a better person and leader as a result. With so many great ideas and solutions to common problems available when you tap into a global community, it makes it that much easier to find the best one for the situations you and your team find yourselves in here in New Zealand. Of course, the opportunities for travel as a result are also fantastic!
