Favourite moments abound - but my most memorable experiences at Vodafone are being part of a team that is the first in the world to launch a product or service to its customers. The thrill comes from knowing you played a key role in a high-performing team responsible for the successful market launch of a product or service that the public recognise, talk about and truly appreciate as making their lives easier.
I manage a team of commercially savvy people who ensure that every significant deal involving partners or suppliers has been rigorously analysed and negotiated to ensure Vodafone gets the highest quality output at great value to pass on to its customers. We ensure our suppliers understand and deliver the standards of service and quality our customers expect from Vodafone.
I manage a team of exceptional people and I am responsible for their development. At Vodafone, I am involved in social sports teams and a corporate networking institution, where different organisations get together on a regular basis to discuss work practices, trends and issues.
My team is also part of the global Vodafone supply chain organisation. Accordingly we often find ourselves involved in supplier-related activities that are common to many Vodafone operating companies across the globe.
Vodafone is a work environment with boundless opportunities. It has formal channels for careers but unlike many organisations, it is very open to individuals seeking out alternative career paths. Opportunities are there for those that seek them.
Since being with Vodafone, I have: worked in both Australia and New Zealand and been involved in several global projects; been involved in some of Australasia's biggest and advanced partnering and outsourcing deals; migrated from an internal delivery role executing the deals into a management role responsible for developing 8 people.
