Call transfers and messaging

If you can't take a call, personalOperator lets your callers stay on hold to record a voiceMail message, or press 0 to transfer to another number you nominate. That number could be a colleague, your PA or your reception, on any mobile or landline phone. You only pay for the cost of transferring the call.

The option to talk to someone instead of just leaving a message has huge benefits:

  • Fewer callers will hang up
  • You'll spend less time clearing voiceMail messages
  • You'll play less telephone tag
  • Your nominated personalOperator contact might be able to help your caller themselves, or at least know when you'll be available or who else can help in your absence.

How does it work?

First, plan your call options

  • Which number or person will take your calls?
  • Do you want them to be taking overload calls 24/7, or during specific hours?
  • What should your message say to make sure callers only choose the personalOperator option for appropriate calls?
  • And, of course, make sure the person knows they might be getting your diverted calls.

Then, set up personalOperator on your voiceMail

  • Dial voiceMail
  • Press 3 for personal options
  • Press 4 for personal set up
  • Press 5 for personalOperator and follow the voice prompts to set your alternative contact number and your personalOperator hours of operation
  • Record your new voicemail message letting callers know they can press zero to reach your alternative contact.

Once you have activated personalOperator in your VoiceMail, you can then update your voicemail message to give your caller the choice of pressing 0 to go through to your alternative number, or staying on the line to leave a message with your VoiceMail.

You can designate any mobile or landline number as your personalOperator alternative contact number. You can even choose the hours when personalOperator will be active.


What does it cost?

The personalOperator service itself is free to set up and has no monthly fee. All you pay is the cost to forward any calls to the nominated personalOperator number.
