How you prepare your BlackBerry handset for Daylight Savings changes in April depends on which of the BlackBerry services you have.
If you use BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) to access your ISP or webmail email accounts, you can follow the instructions below to load the new Daylight Savings patch to your BlackBerry. This may mean upgrading your handset to the latest version of software.
If your BlackBerry accesses your organisations own IT email server for email, contacts and calendar, you're probably using BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). You'll need to contact your IT or BlackBerry Administrator to work out what process they want you to follow. If you are an IT or BlackBerry Administrator, we have developed guides to updating your servers and handsets.
Upgrading Your BlackBerry for Daylight Savings: BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)
The impact of the new Daylight Savings changes depends on your Blackberry's software version. To check your software version and upgrade to the latest version, just follow these four steps.
If you have any trouble, just call our specialist BlackBerry support team on 0800 921 021.
Step 1: Figure out what version of software is on your handset
From the Home screen, press the menu button and choose Settings (or Options) > About

You will see a screen that shows your BlackBerry model (the top line) and your current software version (line 3).

Step 2: See if your software is up to date
Find your Blackberry's model on this table and compare the software you have with the software you need.
| BlackBerry model | Minimum software version required | Latest version available |
|---|---|---|
| 7230 | NOT SUPPORTED – new handset required | |
| 7290 | 4.1.0.375 | 4.1.0.375 |
| 7100 | 4.1.0.375 | 4.1.0.375 |
| 7130 | 4.1.0.317 | 4.2.1.101 |
| 8700 | 4.2.1.101 | 4.2.1.101 |
| 8707v (3G) | 4.1.0.378 | 4.2.1.94 |
| 8100 (Pearl) | 4.2.0.61 | 4.5.0.55 |
| 8310 (Curve) | Already DST compliant | 4.5.0.55 |
| 8110 (Pearl) | Already DST compliant | 4.5.0.55 |
| 9000 (Bold) | Already DST compliant |
If you have a BlackBerry 7230, it is not supported at all for the new DST times. This could be the perfect opportunity to upgrade your BlackBerry – just visit your nearest Vodafone store, or call your Vodafone Account Manager. Alternatively, you can simply adjust the time on your BlackBerry manually during the new DST changeover period, but you will probably still have issues with your Calendar if you synchronise it with your computer.
If you have a BlackBerry 8310 Curve then you don't need to do anything more as your device is already fully DST compliant.
For every other BlackBerry, if the software version on your handset is older than the tables listing, you need to continue to Step 3 to upgrade before you load the DST update.
If your software is already up to date, you only need to load the DST update. Skip to Step 4, below.
Step 3: Upgrade your BlackBerry's software to the latest version
If required (see Step 2, above), download our online guide, How to upgrade your BlackBerry handset software – BIS users and follow its steps.
Step 4: Load the Daylight Savings Time patch onto your BlackBerry
When you have the latest software version, you can simply load the DST patch directly from your Blackberry's web browser.
