An IT Administrator's guide to updating your BlackBerry solution
If you are running BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you need to complete the following steps to accommodate the changes to New Zealand Daylight Savings Time (DST). These steps will resolve the issue for both your BES server and your BlackBerry handsets.
| BlackBerry handset software | ||
|---|---|---|
| The minimum software versions for each type of BlackBerry handset are listed in the table below: | ||
| BlackBerry model | Minimum software version required | Latest version available |
| 7230 | NOT SUPPORTED – new handset required | |
| 7290 | 4.1.0.375 | 4.1.0.375 |
| 7100 | 4.1.0.375 | 4.1.0.375 |
| 7130 | 4.1.0.317 | 4.2.1.101 |
| 8700 | 4.2.1.101 | 4.2.1.101 |
| 8707v (3G) | 4.1.0.378 | 4.2.1.94 |
| 8100 (Pearl) | 4.2.0.61 | 4.5.0.55 |
| 8310 (Curve) | Already DST compliant | 4.5.0.55 |
| 8110 (Pearl) | Already DST compliant | 4.5.0.55 |
| 9000 (Bold) | Already DST compliant | |
You can apply any necessary upgrades with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. At the same time, you will also need to re-establish the link to your server by re-applying Enterprise Activation. See our guide, How to Upgrade your BlackBerry handset software – BES user for complete instructions.
If you have many BlackBerry users you can create a software configuration on your BES server to push the DST patch out to users automatically. This causes the least impact on users, and is far easier to apply across large teams, especially if they're based in many locations. For this to work the handsets must already be at or above the software levels described above. For more information on this process, see Configuring BES to Wireless Push DST Patch to BlackBerry Handsets - IT Administrators guide.
If you have a smaller number of users, they can download the correct patch from the web via their handset web browser themselves. This is the same process used by BIS solutions.
