When you buy a BlackBerry handheld you can download for FREE a fully-functional version of BlackBerry Professional Software (BPS) for your existing email server.

BlackBerry Professional Software Express (BPS Express) is a FREE download of BlackBerry Professional Software that can support up to 30 BlackBerry users connecting to their email server.

The FREE download includes:

• A copy of BlackBerry Professional Software, with the capacity to support up to 30 users
• One user license – Client Access License (CAL
• The latest version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server Solution software, version 4.1

BPS Express is the ideal solution for smaller organisations with their own email server or for larger organisations that aren't sure how many BlackBerry users they will grow to.

To expand the number of users you simply purchase additional user licenses as your needs grows. And if you reach the point where you need more than 30 users, you can upgrade to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES).

What do I need to get BPS Express?

You will need at least one BlackBerry handheld from our increasing range. To get a BlackBerry handheld either visit a Vodafone store or contact your Vodafone Account Manager or Vodafone Business Consultant.

You will also need a BES data plan for each BlackBerry handheld. If you already have a BlackBerry data plan but are not sure whether it is for BES or have any concern about the way your BlackBerry account is set-up then again check with your Vodafone Account Manager or call 777 from your mobile.

You do not require a voice plan with a BlackBerry, however if you already have one then these rates will apply when using your BlackBerry, otherwise the BlackBerry plan has its own rate for casual voice and SMS or you can arrange a voice plan at the same time as your BlackBerry data plan.

How do I get the BPS Express software?

You have two choices for getting the BPS Express solution installed:

1. Self-Install - you can download your BPS Express software and install it yourself. It can be downloaded from http://www.blackberry.com/go/ap_express_vodafone. Follow the on-screen instructions and all installation documentation comes with the download package. You can get free assistance over the phone by calling our specialist BlackBerry support team on 0800 921021 and you can also get on-site assistance charged at an hourly rate of $135.00 + GST per hour for work in business hours. Note that the download package is over 300MB in size so ensure you have a reliable broadband internet connection!

2. Readiness Assessment & Managed Install – we'll show you what you need - If you are not comfortable with getting straight into the install yourself and want Vodafone to help you develop an installation plan, or if you have some other advanced requirements, then we can help you work through the options.

Step 1: Readiness Assessment - this will cost $450 + GST and will achieve the following:

• Understand your BlackBerry requirements in detail, e.g. the number of users, type of handsets, security and user policies, redundancy and failover, etc.
• Review your current IT environment and determine what pre-installation work is required.
• Produce a Scope of Work document outlining all the work items required.
• A quote to have this work completed by Vodafone with a Managed Install.

Step 2: Managed Install – Vodafone will take care of installing the BlackBerry server software which will usually cost in the range of $800 – $1,500 + GST, depending on the complexity of the work required.

How can I get more user licenses for our BPS Express server?

You will need to purchase additional user licenses (CAL's) and BlackBerry Handhelds, and BlackBerry monthly plans from your Vodafone Account Manager.

How much do additional BPS licenses cost?

The BPS Express software is free to download and comes with 1 user license. Additional licenses can be purchased to expand your BPS Express server as the number of BlackBerry users grows.

How do I change from BES Express to BPS Express?

If you have previously installed a BES Express server and not already "Unlocked" it then you can only have a maximum of 15 BlackBerry users.

Now you have the choice to either "Unlock" your existing BES server (this costs $4999 + GST through your Vodafone Account Manager) or upgrade for FREE to the BPS server and have up to 30 BlackBerry users, paying only for the additional user licenses as shown in the table above. Once you get to 30 users you can then "Unlock" to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server add as many users as you require.

This upgrade software is a BES Service Pack that you load onto your existing BES Express (Small Business Edition - SBE) server.
