With the Hika Lite app you can quickly and easily translate English into Māori on your iPhone or Android mobile. You can also test what you’ve learnt in the ‘Self Test’ area and learn fun and interesting facts about Māori language and culture.

How does the app work?

  • The app contains English words that have been translated into Māori and saved as coloured tiles
  • You simply enter the English phrase you want to translate
  • The app links the tiles together to create translated sentences and paragraphs
  • Read the translation or listen to it in either a male or female voice
