These terms and conditions are additional to and form part of the terms and conditions of your On Account Connection Agreement with Vodafone New Zealand Limited (Vodafone). Roaming is not available on Base plans.
You will be taken to have accepted these terms and conditions as soon as you start using roaming. We may vary these terms and conditions from time to time in accordance with your On Account Connection agreement.
Subject to your On Account Connection Agreement, and to your meeting our credit criteria, we will enable roaming within 48 hours of receiving your request. You acknowledge that service outside of New Zealand is provided by external carriers and is subject to those carriers' terms and conditions.
Unless otherwise advised by Vodafone from time to time all outgoing calls are charged at airtime rates based on the charges from the external carrier. This airtime rate will vary from carrier to carrier. International rates will also apply where you make international calls (including calls to voiceMail). Charges may change without prior notice and all prices are indicative only. If your pricing plan includes monthly minutes, these minutes do not apply to roaming charges. 0800 (1800) and other special numbers may be charged for by external carriers.
TXT messages sent while roaming have a surcharge applied by the external carrier. The surcharge rate will vary from carrier to carrier.
Incoming calls are charged at the international rate applicable at the time the call is made to you. Some external carriers may add an incoming call rate from the time you answer the call. You agree that all charges incurred while roaming will be charged to your monthly statement. You agree to pay all charges in full when they are due. (There may be delays in Vodafone receiving notice from external carriers of charges to be billed to you. This does not affect Vodafone's right to charge you or receive payment from you.
Promotional offers to Vodafone New Zealand customers may not apply to you while you are roaming. If you are in doubt please call Customer Services before you leave New Zealand on 777 (or once roaming on +64 9 355 2007) or for business customers on 888 (or once roaming on +64 9 962 9888) for specific promotion details.
As roaming involves services provided by networks other than Vodafone New Zealand Limited, you agree that we will not be responsible for the way in which any external carrier provides or fails to provide any service (including disconnection lack of coverage or the performance of that carrier's network).
If you wish to use data while travelling overseas you must have a data capable device and will need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle (except in certain circumstances set out below). Data is required for functions such as sending and receiving emails or PXTs, using apps and browsing the internet. Your device will be unable to use data overseas without an external internet connection (e.g. Wi-Fi) unless you have purchased a Data Roaming Bundle.
Data Roaming Bundles can be purchased either before you leave New Zealand (via My Account) or once you reach your overseas destination (where you will receive TXT notification and/or be redirected to a Vodafone web page). A different Data Roaming Bundle will be required depending on the destination you wish to roam in:

Data roaming is available in over 120 destinations. Check the full list of data roaming destinations to see whether you can roam in your destination and what zone you will need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle for. You may only have one Data Roaming Bundle per zone at any one time.
Data Roaming Bundles do not apply in the following circumstances
Where Data Roaming Bundles do not apply, if you use data while roaming you will be charged for data at the rates set out in your plan and/or at casual data roaming rates (including without limitation in-flight and maritime), as applicable. You agree to be charged for using casual data roaming at the rates set out by our external carriers and advertised by us either via our website or other channels of communication from time to time. While Vodafone frequently updates its website, it accepts no liability for fluctuating prices of overseas carriers. We recommend you check on pricing with overseas networks at the time of roaming. You agree to pay all charges in full when they are due. There may be delays in Vodafone receiving notice from external carriers of charges to be billed to you. This does not affect Vodafone's right to charge you or receive payment from you.
Please note that if your device is unable to send/receive TXTs you will not be able to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle via TXT on that device once you have left New Zealand. You will need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle before you leave New Zealand or call a Vodafone customer service representative from your destination free on +64 9 355 2007 or for business customers free on +64 9 962 9888 to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle.
Once purchased, you must start using your Data Roaming Bundle within 30 days. Each Data Roaming Bundle lasts for 30 days commencing on the day data is first used. Any data not used within these 30 day periods will be lost.
When reviewing your current Data Roaming Bundle online, data usage will displayed rounded up to the nearest 1MB.
Data Angel service applies to Data Roaming Bundles only and not casual data.

Prepay customers will be eligible only for Vodafone Traveller rates while using their mobile phone overseas ('roaming').
Prepay customers can roam to preapproved (Autoroam) countries only.
Vodafone Traveller charges will apply to all outgoing calls made while you are out of New Zealand.
On 'Traveller', Prepay customers are charged a Fixed Standard Home rate of $0.79 plus a 'Zone Charge', per minute (or part thereof) for making outgoing calls when overseas (outside of NZ).
Vodafone Traveller splits the world into 4 zones below and your 'Zone Charge' varies depending on which Zone you are calling from. The Zones are:
Zone 1 – Australia
Zone 2 – UK, Europe, North America & South Africa
Zone 3 – Asia, Pacific and the Middle East
Zone 4 – Rest of World
Vodafone Traveller pricing does not include premium numbers, satellite calls, in-flight roaming calls, maritime calls and fax/data calls.

If your pricing plan includes monthly minutes, texts or data allowance, these minutes, texts or data allowances do not apply to calls and texts made and data used while roaming. This includes add-ons such as BestMate, TXT5000, TXTNZ, Free Weekend or Local Calling Groups will not apply while you are roaming.
Data calls are charged on a separate basis, depending on the country that you are using data in. Data usage is charged per 10KB or part thereof. Different locations may have different device requirements and costs are measured on data volume rather than time spent online. Details of the costs and device requirements for each location are set out at www.vodafone.co.nz/roaming/data-roaming.jsp.
In-flight roaming is not included in the Vodafone Traveller rates, but is available on selected domestic and international flights. For details of in-flight roaming, including the cost see www.vodafone.co.nz/roaming/inflight/
Maritime Calls are available on some cruise liners. See www.vodafone.co.nz/roaming/maritime-coverage for details of the cruise liners and the cost of the calls.
You agree that all charges you incur while roaming in an AutoRoam Country will be charged in real time off your Prepay Account Balance.
All incoming calls will be charged at a flat rate regardless of the origin of the call, or country you are in at the time of receiving the call. All outgoing text messages will be charged a flat rate regardless of the country you are travelling in, or the country that the text originated from. Details of those charges are set out at www.vodafone.co.nz/roaming/which-roaming-plan.jsp
GST will not be charged on calls, texts and data calls made while you are out of New Zealand as these are zero rated for tax purposes. If Vodafone is unable to assess whether you are in or out of New Zealand, which may be the case with some in-flight roaming, GST will be charged as required by law.
